TextView bold vía archivo xml?

¿Hay alguna forma de poner en negrita el texto en una vista de texto a través de XML?

<TextView
   android:textSize="12dip"
   android:textAppearance="bold"  -> ??
</TextView>

Tengo un proyecto en el que tengo lo siguiente TextView: 

<TextView
    android:layout_width="wrap_content"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:textStyle="bold"
    android:text="@string/app_name"
    android:layout_gravity="center" 
/>

Entonces, supongo que necesitas usar android:textStyle
